Automatic Control
Automatic Control specified by “M” in the model code.

BetaSwage’s leading Automatic Control for Swage Presses
Automatic Control specified by ‘M’ in the model code is the most popular control. It is also the default control as listed in the data sheets. This control offers the operator full functionality with many features not offered as standard on other machines.
After the operator has ascertained the required swage diameter for the hose assembly to be swaged, he refers to the dial vernier reference chart on the fascia of this control to calculate the dial vernier offset value and the required die set number or colour.
For example, if a swage diameter of 25.40mm is required, we refer to the chart as:
The Dial Vernier Setting is a function of;
• Die Set Number + Dial Vernier Setting = Final Swage Diameter.
Some of the features of the Automatic Control are:
QUICK CHANGE OVER-RIDE BUTTON
When pressed with the crimp button, this button allows free movement of the head to the fully in position so that the Quick Change Tool for Button Dies can be used. This means you do not have to re-set the dial vernier to 0.00 setting.
RETRACT DIAMETER CONTROL
The diameter that the dies open can be varied by this control. When swaging multiple assembles and only opening the dies just enough to remove the swaged assembly will significantly increase production rate.
FOOT PEDAL
If the foot pedal is attached, the control switches instantly to full ‘Automatic’ and ‘Dead Man’ control. Press the foot pedal and the dies will begin to move inwards.
Release the pedal and the motion of the dies stops. Press the foot pedal and the dies move inwards again (Dead Man Control). Once set point has been achieved, the LED light will come on and the dies will automatically retract to the retract diameter setting. Release the foot pedal and repress to start inward sequence of the dies once again.
AUTOMATIC MOTOR CONTROL
If the swage press is switched on, the LED set point will flash ON OFF ON.
When the crimp button is pressed, the LED set point will switch off, the electric motor will run and the dies will move inward. The electric motor will run for 20 seconds after any manual input to the swage press. The LED set point will then go back to flashing ON OFF ON to inform operator it is in ‘Sleep Mode’. It is therefore never necessary to switch the electric motor on or off as it is done automatically. The swage press can be left in ‘Sleep Mode’ indefinitely.
VOLTAGE PROTECTION
If the press is subjected to incorrect voltage, the swage press will isolate itself and send a signal with the LED set point switching ON ON OFF ON ON OFF ON ON. The problem should be corrected and the swage press switched off then on at the isolator switch.
Allowing the swage press to continue to operate at incorrect voltage will cause irrevocable damage.
INCORRECT DIE INSTALLATION
On certain swage presses with automatic control, the swage press will only develop radial load if the correct die set is installed. This protects against damage to the press as well as saving the hose assembly from being totally destroyed.
DIAGNOSTICS
If all the electronics are satisfactory and the input voltage is correct, the LED set point will flash ON OFF ON. If the LED set point is OFF, and there is power to the swage press, then there is a failure in the control system. If the LED set point is ON ON ON then there is an open circuit to the dial vernier. With these diagnostics and a few quick checks, any possible failure can be readily diagnosed and the corrective par
